That resort habit shaped the town: houses here were furnished for pleasure, by people with taste and the means to indulge it, and much of what they bought is still sitting in the rooms.

From the Cove to PGA West
La Quinta splits neatly by era, and we read each part differently. The Cove holds the older, smaller houses, some going back to the 1930s and 40s, where original furnishings and long-held family things turn up. Around the resort and the older fairways you find households furnished in the 50s and 60s and rarely touched since. PGA West and the newer gated communities skew contemporary, but their owners inherited plenty, and the garages hold what the parents shipped out. Does the desert climate actually change what things are worth?
It changes condition, and condition drives price. Dry-stored leather, denim, paper, and textiles routinely arrive in better shape than coastal examples of the same pieces. We cannot promise numbers sight unseen, but desert-kept items frequently land at the strong end of their honest range.
