Will you come to an apartment or condo building?
Yes. A large share of our Westside visits are apartments in Westwood, Palms, and Mar Vista. We coordinate with building management when needed, reserve elevators, and work within move-out windows. You do not need a house or a garage for this to be worth doing.
Do you buy single pieces, or only whole households?
Both. One good leather jacket, one Danish credenza, or one box of concert tees is enough reason to visit if it looks promising from your photos. Whole households too, including a parent’s home near UCLA: we look at everything first, buy what carries real value, and give you a straight read on the rest.
How do you arrive at your offer?
We price against the actual markets we resell into, including collectors overseas for categories like vintage denim, and we explain that reasoning out loud while you watch. No pressure and no expiring numbers. Take the offer, sleep on it, or decline it.
There are crew jackets and tour shirts from a parent’s studio career. Do those have a market?
A real one. Production crew jackets, wrap gifts, and tour merchandise were made in small numbers for people who actually worked the job, which is why collectors chase them, and the production or tour name with a year is most of the story. Do not wash or dry clean them, do not cut out the tags, and keep any call sheets, passes, or paperwork with the garment, because that is what separates a genuine crew piece from a gift shop reprint.
Dad’s records and books filled a forty-year academic career. How should we prepare them?
Do not prepare them at all, and above all do not sort. Leave records in their original inner sleeves and jackets, do not wipe them with household cleaner, and do not re-sleeve them in new plastic; keep the odd private pressings and foreign editions in the run, since those are often the ones worth the most. The same goes for the shelves, where a library read in place tells us far more than forty sealed boxes do.
